Last week’s efforts:

The fairings for the tailplane had cracks in them which were fixed by reinforcing with strips of glass epoxy, applying epoxy filler and sanding.

They are ready for painting.

The fuselage needed a few more spots filled, otherwise it’s ready for the top coat. We have next Monday pencilled in. In preparation we started putting up the plastic drop sheets around the shed.

Work continued on the luggage shelf. The recessing of the frames for the nut plates turned out to be fairly time consuming. Laurie brought his router table down but it wasn’t used in the end. I found it easier to use a Forstner bit and a 6 mm router in the drill press to create the recesses.

Luggage shelf fitted into place.

Frame and deck epoxy sealed, 3 coats

Nut plate fitted into recess, will be fastened by 1g x 1/4 Csk wood screws.
