Made a hold down for the battery today.

The overcentre lock provides a nice tight hold and the system would easily take the recommended 20G load of 44 kg.

As mentioned before, after realising the awkward contortions needed to put the battery into WUH at Warkworth, I’ve played around with different locations in KYU and settled for this one:

Should be a lot easier to install and remove.

Now for wiring it all up, including a decent plug and socket. We are currently throwing a few ideas around, favouring a fixed socket for the glider and an inline one for the charger..

We also discussed fitting of a fairing for the main wheel. It appears that earlier versions of Bocians actually seemed to have one as standard, but when the sprung undercarriage was introduced with the 1E model like ours, the fairing was omitted.

I’m sure Laurie and I could come up with a satisfactory fairing, say out of fibreglass, but we will check with the guru whether that can be done without too much hassle with approvals etc.. I remembered the amount of time spent cleaning out the muck from the STGC paddock, and hope that at the very least we will be able to fit some sort of shielding for the wheel well.
