Having decided that the top coat will be sprayed, the sanding has started.

The dull area at the tail is todays’ effort with 240 grit.

Based on todays’ work, it should take about 30 manhours to sand the fuselage and horizontal stabiliser – but I guess we did have a few chats while sanding during which productivity somewhat tapered off, so maybe that will improve when we get stuck into it in earnest next week.

Forgot to include this shot from the other day when Pete was here. He kindly took Liz for a spin in his beach buggy. It took her a while to get that grin off her face afterwards!
Speaking of Pete’s visit when he showed me how to iron on the fabric, Laurie and I tested the peel strength. We reckon it must be close to 5 kg, despite the fact that the plywood we stuck the fabric onto had not been cleaned in any way beforehand. So I think we can safely say that the glue works as advertised!
