BOCIAN FLYERS

Dieter & Laurie's Restoration Project

After a greatly interrupted few weeks, we finally are putting finishing touches onto the fuselage refurbishment.

We mounted the elevators to the horizontal stabiliser and trial-fitted it to the fuselage. One of the most time-consuming tasks was the fitting of the new push-pull wire for the trim tab.

Another challenge was the fabrication of a new round acrylic disc for the clear view window. Fortunately Pete had a suitable sheet of 3mm acrylic handy which he kindly donated to this worthy cause – thanks St. Pete yet again!

The cleaning of the rails and flat springs also took an extraordinary amount of time, as well as the sourcing of new screws of the exact right size.. Turned out ok though.

While there’s still a list of pesky “minor” details to be adressed, we have now run out of excuses not to take the fuselage out of the rotisserie hoop and prepare it for transport to Warkworth. Pete has kindly offered us space in his brand spanking new hangar and we should be able to organise that within the next few weeks.

Fuselage out of rotisserie and onto its transport cradle – a milestone has been achieved!

Then we’ll get onto the wings……………………
